Brittany Bellamy grew up in the small town of Cedar Springs, Michigan. From an early age, Brittany knew she loved writing and felt that it was something she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Upon arriving at Spring Arbor University, she became involved with public relations and professional writing, which provided a much-needed outlet for her passion. Soon, between working on the student magazine, student government, and various internships, Brittany was able to develop her passion into a professional set of skills. In her freetime, Brittany enjoys looking for new coffee shops and collecting teas.
My motivation
Bringing people together. I love creating spaces, whether that's virtually or in-person, where people can grow in relationship with one another. The most important thing you can do in life is build relationships and love other people. And that's essentially the heart of public relations--creating strategies that will create communities around the things people love.
My latest accomplishments
This past October I worked closely with a committee to help map out Homecoming Weekend for Spring Arbor. I planned a dance for students at a new location with a different theme, and it went great. It was fantastic to work on all aspects of a project, from budgeting to planning to advertising to implementation.
Next big goal
My next big goal is to transition into the working world. I've been incredibly blessed to have the chance to learn and grow in a fostering community the past four years, and now it's time to take those experiences and figure out how they transfer over into the "real world" of the everyday work life.
Why is choosing your own path important?
Choosing your own path is important because no one knows what you love better than you. When I graduated high school, I had people tell me I was wasting my talent because I wanted to pursue writing and not something in the sciences. But I stuck with it, and found something I'm truly passionate about in advertising. While surrounding yourself with people who love you and can speak into your life is definitely essential, you also have to pursue your own calling.
Favorite place on campus
Our Communications Suite. It's a set of offices that houses our communications department professors, and always stocked with tea. I've spent many an all-nighter there working on the school paper.Share this profile
