Katherine Vaillancourt
Highschool: Hillsdale Academy
Class of 2016
Independent Student of the Day
My name is Katherine Vaillancourt. I am 20 years old and am from Hillsdale, Michigan. I am a junior at Alma College pursuing a history degree with a chemistry minor. I find history fascinating and firmly believe that it will be invaluable in treating future patients, since, unlike many historians, I intend to go to medical school after Alma. One of my favorite things is babies, so I plan to specialize in obstetrics medicine.
My motivation
My parents continually support me to do my best at anything I decide to do, to never give up, and to serve others with integrity. Therefore, my motivation stems from serving others in order to be the best person I can be; that can help to make the biggest difference in the world in the future. This allows me to cultivate self worth that is rooted in knowing that my actions are meaningful now.
My latest accomplishments
My latest accomplishment is receiving a Posey Global Scholarship from Alma College's Posey Global Family Foundation to intern at Nav Jeevan Sanstha School/Orphanage in Nagpur, India in January through March of 2015.
Next big goal
My next big goal is to read as many books as possible over Christmas break. My list includes To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Why is choosing your own path important?
Choosing your own path is important because we each have unique talents. If each of us does something that we are good at and that makes us happy, we can live in better communities that will make a difference in the world that matters in people's lives.
Favorite place on campus
My favorite place on campus is the history office bay. It is always crowded with my favorite people at Alma, but somehow I always am very productive when I study there!Share this profile
